Joey Greco

I like to watch TV.  My favorite show of all time is Cheaters. Cheaters as many greater Dallas area residents may know, is filmed and produced in Dallas! It is truly amazing investigative reporting that busts people cheating on loved ones. Awesome. The host of the show, Joey Greco lives and shops/eats in Plano, so there are occasional *star* sightings and I’m always all ears.

I’ve heard from reliable sources that some of the Cheaters episodes are fake, and there are some tell tale signs of a fake bust. For instance, if none of the players’ idenities are withheld, and blurred out, it aint real. I’ve actually known one couple that was on this show. It was a terrible episode, and these were high school friends of mine, but they sucked at acting.

The occasional shitty fake ass episode doesn’t deter from the thrilling premise of the whole show. Its kind of like watching a criminal get caught red handed! Obviously, the nature of the show causes unpredicable reactions from angry cheaters, and Joey really has had his share memorable, painful, even life threatening moments on the job. He has been pushed, punched and stabbed. He and his crew have also been chased out of numorous houses, hotels, restraunts and taken paintball gun shots from a crazed cheater. Part of his job is also to settle shit down with the boys in blue, who often show up at the public scenes/fights. So I admire Joey. He puts it all on the line, willing to sacrifice his life for the entertainment of bored twenty somethings, sipping iced coffee in restless suburbs. Really he’s a hero, thank you, Mr. Greco!

And one of the absolute funnest games to play whilst watching the three to four episodes that air nightly(thank you, TIVO!) is trying determine where the busts are taking place or at least what part of town they involve. This is a very exciting game to play if you know this part of Texas so well it hurts.

A few places in Plano/Dallas where I’ve recognized Greco bustin’ up a secret love affair have been, The Grapevine(Gay Bar), JR’s(Gay Bar), Billiards Bar(Sloppy Drunks!), Angelika(West Elm), Bob Woodruff Park, various Starsucks and the banks of some ever familiar highways. This is a very fun show to watch if you know this area well, and drama is real.

The second best part of every show is the updates, which tell if the couple is working it out or if have moved on for good. And guess what! Approximately sixty eight percent of the time they’re trying to work it out. Bullshit. Going back to someone who cheats is like eating rotten meat and telling all your friends it tastes delicious.

This show appeals to a large democraphic simply because, everybody cheats! Blacks, whites, hispanics, young, old, every cheater has a fair shot of getting busted eatin’ funnel cakes or under the covers by Joey Greco and crew. So if you live in our beautiful concrete city, and you like to two time your lover, beware! Joey is on the prowl, saving people from upcoming heartache everday…

If you want to see more of Mr. Greco just come down to the gayborhood and hang out at Woody’s. He’s there all the time with his boyfriend-du-jour. Stick around long enough and you’ll get an idea of they type of people he likes to hang out with and watch them make frequent trips to the bathroom Lindsey Lohan style. (sniffle sniffle). Not sure what that means really?

By the way – and I’m not bashing here so don’t wig out on me – The Grapevine is not considered a gay bar. There’s a porportionate number of breeders/homos on any given night. It’s just a cool bar that attracts all kinds of fun people.

    Cheers.
